Wolf wins the
international sporting clays
World Championship!
Gregg
Wolf, a 20-year old college student
from Jordan, Minnesota, became the
first American and the first Junior
competitor to win the international
sporting clays World Championship.
Gregg defeated Great Britain's Ben
Hustwaite for the gold medal by a single
target in a sudden death shoot-off
before an international gallery that
cheered the young American to victory.
Gregg's dramatic victory came against
over 700 competitors representing over
20 nations in the 26th Annual World
FITASC Sporting Clays Championship
held in Signes, France June 14-16.
Greg shoots a Beretta 687EELL. Will Fennell from Team Beretta won a
bronze. shooting with a DT10. Casey Atkinson, also from Team Beretta,
took home the Bronze Medal Lady Championship with her DT10.
Experts consider FITASC, sporting clays game designed to simulate field shooting,
to be the most challenging and difficult form of sporting clays competition.
Clay targets in this international discipline are often launched at unpredictable
trajectories with high speed and substantial distance. European shooters, particularly
the British, who had won the past 17 individual gold medals, have dominated
FITASC competition.
